Make-me-on-fire soup

ith this reálly hot Make-me-on-fire soup you are instantly awake. Due to the added adjuma pepper with a pungency of 100.000-400.000 on the scoville scale it really gives a kick. It gives a rush. Making you energetic again for whatever activity you have on your schedule; you will be on fire.
For this reason I often drink this spicy broth on moments where you usually would drink something with caffeine and/or sugar to give me some energy. The capsaicin (the component that makes peppers hot) raises your adrenaline and endorphins. You are immediately out of your energy dip.
Capsaicin is really a great aid when you try to quit smoking or quit/eat less sugar, salt and caffeine. That’s because it is a tad addictive too, the kick hot peppers give you. You wil notice that you often over time will need more and/or hotter peppers to get the same result. But luckely this is one of the few healthy addictions! Due to the heat you notice less how much sugar and/or salt your food contains.
I use 1 whole adjuma pepper in this Make-me-on-fire soup. Adjuma peppers come in yellow and red and they are often wrongly sold in supermarkets under the names “Madame Jeanette”, “Scotch bonnet” and “habanero”. They all look alike. If you can’t find adjuma peppers; you can use one of these. In the main photo of the recipe I used the red one. I prefer the yellow ones though; they have a unique fruity smell and flavour.
For the bell pepper you can also choose which colour you like best. With yellow bell pepper and yellow adjuma pepper you could make a fully yellow version.
Some advice about the spiciness of the adjuma pepper

o you eat spicy on a weekly basis; use 1/2 pepper. If you rarely eat spicy food you can use 1/3 of the pepper. If you are not sure: Add 1/4 of the pepper and add more to taste. You can always add more pepper, but never remove it ofcourse!
I recommend using plastic gloves if you have them when cutting adjuma peppers. If you do not have gloves was your fingers thoroughly with soap, water and a nail brush afterwards. If you later in the day are going to remove your contacts or in other ways going to touch sensitive areas on a body wash your hands again the same way. These peppers are nó joke. (I know from experience as a contact lenses wearer, and I also have made an horizontal mambo dance partner dance more like something resembling the pee-pee dance once…oops!)
If the Make-me-on-fire soup turns out to be way too hot anyway: they say drinking milk works best if you put too much pepper in your mouth. I never tried it though.
